Set to join the refreshed Everest line-up in the fourth quarter of 2026, Ford South Africa has announced the Everest Tremor is heading to Mzansi. Here’s what you need to know about the rugged upcoming new model…
Following the introduction of the updated Everest line-up — the latter seeing the introduction of the Blue Oval brand’s EcoBoost 2.3-litre turbo-petrol powertrain and more models gaining the automaker’s 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged oil-burner with the discontinuation of the 2.0-litre twinturbo-diesel (an updated version of the 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel unit remains) — Ford South Africa announced the local arrival of the updated Everest model range.
As we reported previously, the revised Everest line-up is available with the choice of four trim levels. This includes range-topping Platinum, more adventure-focused Wildtrak, Sport and, with the update, a new entry-level spec — Active, which replaces the XLT spec. However, the local arm of Ford has now confirmed that, later this year, another model will join its Everest portfolio…and it comes in the form of the rugged Tremor. So, what does the Tremor package include? Let’s take a closer look…

Designed for roads less travelled, the Everest Tremor is equipped with a raft of off-road-focused upgrades. The Tremor-badged Everest benefits from specially developed suspension — the latter featuring Bilstein position-sensitive dampers and new springs — and General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres. Thanks to the fitment of the former and latter, the Everest Tremor sports a 26 mm increase in ground clearance compared to its siblings. Tremor specification also gains a Rock Crawl drive mode, which enhances traction on rocky surfaces. Along with several model-specific items, a steel bash plate and heavy-duty side steps are included as standard.
The Everest Tremor employs Ford’s 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel motor, which produces 184 kW and 600 N.m of torque. The powertrain is coupled with the firm’s 10-speed automatic transmission, which delivers power to all four corners.
“We are delighted to bring the popular Tremor variant into our Everest line-up later this year. The addition of the Everest Tremor to this already popular range of SUVs answers customer demand for a more off-road capable model,” said Sunil Sewmohan, Director of Product Marketing at Ford South Africa. “The Everest Tremor builds on the exceptional comfort, space, refinement and high-tech features offered in the Everest, while enabling adventurous owners to go further and conquer more challenging off-road terrain with confidence.”
