Ferrari Amalfi Spider unwrapped

Ferrari has introduced a Spider derivative to its Amalfi line-up. Looks good, doesn’t it?

The Ferrari Amalfi Spider has made its debut, with the Italian automaker’s latest convertible sports car sporting a 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 470 kW for a whip-crack claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 3.3 seconds, before breaching the 200 km/h marker 6.1 seconds later, at 9.4 seconds. The top speed is rated at 320 km/h.

Peak power output is available from 7 500 r/min, with the full complement of 760 N.m on tap between 3 000 r/min and 5 750 r/min in the rev band. The redline sits at 7 600 r/min. The F154 powertrain is coupled with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, paired with an all-wheel drivetrain.

The Amalfi Spider is brought to a halt via 390 mm front and 360 mm rear brake discs, which are sited behind 20-inch alloy wheels. The alloys are shod in 245/35- and 285/35-size rubber fore and aft, respectively. The Maranello marque claims the Amalfi Spider’s braking setup brings it to a halt from 100 km/h and 200 km/h over distances of 30.8 metres and 119.5 metres, respectively.

The Amalfi Spider’s sculpted sheet metal measures 4 660 mm in length, 1 974 mm in width, and 1 305 mm in height. The wheelbase spans 2 670 mm. The automaker says the soft-top Amalfi tips the scales at 1 556 kg (dry).

The Amalfi Spider’s convertible soft-top roof adopts a Z-fold mechanism, which allows the electrically operated item to open in 13.5 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h. Measuring only 220 mm thick, the open-top Amalfi’s roof is constructed from a five-layer, sandwich-assembled acoustic fabric, which was specifically designed to effectively attenuate road and external noise.

Stepping inside, the cabin features three displays for instrumentation, infotainment and the front passenger, respectively. The digital instrument binnacle measures 15.6 inches, with the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled infotainment touchscreen measuring 10.25 inches. The front passenger display, which relays such information as G-force and engine revs, measures 8.8 inches in size.
