iCAUR V23 arrives in SA: Price, specs and more

Chery sub-brand iCAUR has officially revealed local pricing and specs for the retro-inspired V23. We take a closer look at what you can expect from this new all-electric compact SUV.

Earlier in May 2026, we got behind the wheel of iCAUR’s V23. In our first impressions, which you can read here, we noted: “In a year flooded with competent but largely interchangeable Chinese EVs, this is the first one that genuinely felt interesting […] because it has personality. Real personality.”

However, at the time, Chery’s new-energy vehicle (NEV) sub-brand had yet to announce local pricing for its retro-inspired all-electric compact SUV. Well, with the V23 having officially launched in Mzansi, we can now confirm how much it costs in SA.

How much does the iCAUR V23 cost in South Africa?

The local V23 line-up comprises two models, 2WD and AWD, with the former and latter priced from R519 900 and R669 900, respectively. A five-year/100 000 km service plan and eight-year/200 000 km vehicle warranty are included with the pricing as standard, while first owners benefit from an eight-year/160 000 km battery warranty.

So, what does each V23 trim package include? Well, let’s first take a look at their powertrains. The 2WD model is equipped with a single, rear-mounted electric motor producing 100 kW and 180 N.m of torque. The AWD variant’s twin electric-motor setup produces a combined system output of 155 kW and 292 N.m. iCAUR claims 0-100 km/h sprint times of 11 and 7.5 seconds for the 2WD and 4WD, respectively. Both models top out at 140 km/h.

But what about range? The 2WD offers an “NEDC-estimated” 360 km when its 59.93 kWh battery is replenished. The AWD benefits from a larger, 81.8 kWh battery, which serves up an “NEDC-estimated” 430 km on a single, full charge. iCAUR claims energy consumption figures of 20 and 22 kWh/100 km for the 2WD and AWD, respectively.

Standing 1 845 mm tall, the V23 measures 4 220 mm bow to stern and 1 915 mm wide, and 2 735 mm between the front and rear axles. iCAUR claims a boot capacity of 372 litres, which expands to 994 litres when folding down the rear seats’ backrests.

Inside, both derivatives feature such nice-to-have items as a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone screen mirroring, climate control, and electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation. On top of these items, the 2WD features cruise control and a rear-view camera. The AWD gains heating functionality for the front pews, a 540-degree surround-view camera system, and several additional advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and more.
