Pricing: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Shogun arrives in SA

In May 2024, Mitsubishi South Africa introduced to its local Triton line-up the Triton Shogun, a limited-edition version of the company’s double-cab bakkie boasting a variety of model-specific trim elements and additional equipment to enhance the Triton’s appeal. Now, following the same formula, Mitsubishi SA has handed the Pajero Sport this special-edition treatment. Here’s all you need to know, including pricing and specifications, of the latest addition to the Japanese automaker’s local Pajero Sport portfolio…

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Shogun

Positioned as Mitsubishi SA’s new pinnacle Pajero Sport offering, the Pajero Sport Shogun is based on the four-wheel-drive Pajero Sport in mid-spec, Aspire, trim grade, priced R40 000 less than the Pajero Sport Shogun. So, what does the ‘Shogun’ package include?

Well, for starters, the Pajero Sport Shogun, just like the limited-edition double-cab sibling with which it shares ladder-frame underpinnings, gains an array of ‘Shogun’-specific exterior trim elements, such as ‘Shogun’ decals, fender flares and side window deflectors, and equipment to “add a degree of exclusivity” to the package. Equipment includes a nudge bar, rock sliders and a snorkel. This derivative’s 18-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 265/60-size all-terrain rubber.

The interior is equipped with an 8.0-inch, touch-enabled infotainment screen, replete with smartphone screen-mirroring functionality and Bluetooth connectivity. Dual-zone climate control is also present.

As a reminder, the Pajero Sport, whether rear- or four-wheel drive, is exclusively available with Mitsubishi’s 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The oil-burner churns out 133 kW and 430 N.m of torque, available from 3 500 r/min and 2 500 r/min, respectively. The Pajero Sport Shogun’s eight-speed automatic transmission transfers power to both the fore and aft axle.
