Jeep has finally whipped the wraps off the new Compass. Here’s what you can expect…

Produced in Melfi, Italy, the new Compass will be available with the choice of two electrified internal combustion petrol engines and a trio of all-electric drivetrains. The former includes a 108 kW mild-hybrid powertrain and a 143 kW plug-in hybrid (PHEV), while the latter, battery-electric (BEV) configurations offer from 160 kW in the front-wheel-drive derivative to a healthy 280 kW in the all-paw model.

Based on Stellantis’ STLA Medium architecture, the BEV models allow for DC fast charging of up to 160 kW. Thanks to the improved charging capacity, Jeep says a 20 per cent to 80 per cent DC recharge takes only 30 minutes. The BEV variants offer operating ranges of up to 650 km, the firm claims.
The new Compass measures 4 550 mm long, front to rear. The front-wheel-drive models have approach and departure angles of 20 degrees and 26 degrees, respectively, while the all-wheel-drive variants boasts approach and departure angles of 27 degrees and 31 degrees for enhanced capability. While Jeep hasn’t released details about the AWD models’ ground clearance and water-fording depth, the manufacturer has said it is improved upon the FWD derivatives’ 200 mm and 470 mm.
Stepping inside, a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage. A 10-inch digital instrument cluster is also present.

“The new Jeep Compass boldly represents the brand’s forward-thinking philosophy, highlighting our dedication to not only meeting today’s market demands but also anticipating tomorrow’s opportunities,” said Fabio Catone, Jeep Brand Head in Enlarged Europe.
“This vehicle is the perfect expression of the Jeep ruggedness and performance, delivering state-of-the-art solutions, while preserving our commitment to electrification and sustainability. Crafted for outdoor adventures, yet perfect for everyday use, the new Jeep Compass stands as a powerful testament to our relentless pursuit of innovation and versatility, designed to meet the diverse needs of customers around the world”.
