According to Mitsubishi South Africa, the updated Pajero Sport is “more than a facelift”, but proof of how the Japanese automaker is revising its entire model range to keep up with the ever-evolving automotive landscape. In addition, the company maintains that, with the pricing remaining unchanged, the Pajero Sport offers “unquestionable” value for money for those in the market for an adventure SUV.

So, what’s new on the “facelifted” Pajero Sport? Well, for starters, the front facia features an updated version of the manufacturer’s signature ‘Dynamic Shield’ grille, which, the firm says, enhances the previous-generation Triton-based SUV’s “assertive” appearance. New 18-inch alloy wheels are also included in the package.

Stepping inside, interior updates include a new 8.0-inch digital driver’s display and redesigned multifunction steering wheel. An 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replete with smartphone screen mirroring, and a sunroof are further included in the package.

The firm’s familiar 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged oil-burner is employed across the range. As a reminder, this powertrain churns out 133 kW and 430 N.m of twisting force, available from 3 500 r/min and 2 500 r/min, respectively. The turbodiesel unit is exclusively equipped with an eight-speed automatic cog swapper, delivering drive to the rear wheels in the entry-level model or all four corners via Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system.
