The updated Hyundai Tucson is available with the choice of two powertrains: a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit producing 115 kW and 192 N.m of torque, and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel churning out 137 kW and 416 N.m. While the former engine option is equipped with a six-speed automatic cog swapper, the oil-burners send drive to either the front axle or all four corners (N Line) via an eight-speed self-shifter.

The automaker claims average fuel consumption figures of 8.9 L/100 km and 7.4 L/100 km for the petrol and diesel engines, respectively, and 0-100 km/h sprint times of 11.4 seconds (petrol), 9.2 seconds (front-wheel-drive diesel) and 9.4 seconds (all-wheel-drive diesel). The petrol and diesel models’ top speeds are rated at 181 km/h and 201 km/h, respectively.

Stepping inside, a panel housing a duo of digital displays — for instrumentation and infotainment, respectively, dominates the dashboard. The upgraded, 12.3-inch, touch-enabled infotainment screen incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring. Wireless smartphone charging is also present. For audiophiles, the N Line model is equipped with a Bose sound system.
