Updated Audi Q8 South African line-up

The opening gambit to the updated Q8 model range, the 45 TDI employs a 3.0-litre, turbocharged V6 oil-burner, which, with its 183 kW and healthy 600 N.m of torque, sent to all four corners via an eight-speed self-shifter, is good to provide a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7.0 seconds. The single diesel model in the local line-up has a maximum speed of 220 km/h. The 45 TDI is available with Audi’s Platinum Edition and Black Edition packages.

Moving on to the petrol derivative, which, like its aforementioned, diesel-powered stablemate, is also available with the automaker’s Platinum Edition and Black Edition packages, the 55 TFSI’s 3.0-litre, turbocharged V6 petrol unit churns out 250 kW and 500 N.m, figures which, the company claims, allow this model to complete the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.6 seconds, before topping out at an electronically governed 250 km/h.

Spearheading the model range (until the revised RS Q8 arrives, that is), the SQ8 now employs a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol powertrain producing 373 kW and 770 N.m. Audi claims this derivative sprints to the three-figure marker from a standstill in “just” 4.1 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
