Refreshed Mercedes-Benz V-Class launches in SA — What’s new, pricing & more

The refreshed Mercedes-Benz V-Class has finally touched down on South African shores. Here is everything you need to know — what’s new, pricing, and more — about the updated version of the German marque’s opulent people-mover.

The updated V-Class’ “captivating” exterior commands attention, Mercedes-Benz says. The fresh-faced V features a redesigned front radiator grille, which is framed by an LED light band, and revised (adaptive) Multibeam LED headlamp arrays. Notably, the Three-pointed Star brand’s signature star ornament has been placed on the bonnet. Like the front bumper, the aft item has been redesigned. A chrome strip spans the tailgate between the updated V-Class’ “newly designed” LED rear lamps.

To “elevate” the V-Class’ overall aesthetic, Mercedes-Benz offers it with 19-inch Monobloc wheels. However, customers do have the option of specifying other alloys at no cost.

The refreshed V-Class is available with the choice of seven “stunning” exterior paint options, which includes a duo of brand-new hues. High-tech Silver Metallic, which has been chosen as the car’s new standard colour, is joined by Kalahari Gold Metallic and Sodalite Blue Metallic. The colour palette further includes Hyacinth Red Metallic, Rock Crystal White Metallic, Dark Graphite Grey Metallic, and Obsidian Black Metallic.

Stepping inside (via keyless entry; push-button start is also included in the package), the fresh-faced V-Class’ fascia features a duo of 12.3-inch displays. The MBUX set-up incorporates several niceties, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring. A wireless smartphone charging pad is sited in the centre console. The package further includes 64-colour ambient lighting, among an array of other items.

As a reminder, the V300d-badged V employs the Three-pointed Star brand’s familiar 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The turbocharged oil-burner churns out 174 kW.
