I’ve always had a soft spot for sporty Audis—there’s just something about their blend of power and precision that feels right. The RS6 has long been a legend, and now with the new RS6 Avant GT, Audi has taken that reputation and amped it up a few notches.
When I got the invitation to attend the auction for this rare machine—the only RS6 Avant GT in South Africa—I couldn’t pass it up. Seeing it up close was a thrill; this is a car with serious presence. The auction itself was buzzing, and the energy in the room felt almost like the RS6 was a celebrity in its own right. And it’s no surprise; this one-of-a-kind model went for R4.5 million. Even better, a portion of that amount is going to an NGO that provides extra lessons in maths and science for learners—a cause that deserves the attention.

Now, let’s talk about what’s under the bonnet. The RS6 Avant GT brings serious muscle with its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing a whopping 463 kW and 850 Nm of torque. That propels this beast to a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 3.4 seconds. For a family-friendly wagon, that’s impressive. But this isn’t just a luxury family car—Audi Sport has tuned this GT model to deliver unfiltered performance, ideal for anyone who loves a car that can handle both open stretches and tight turns.
While this one won’t be coming home with me, seeing the RS6 Avant GT in action was a reminder of why these cars hold such appeal. They bring together luxury, performance, and a whole lot of character. It’s Audi doing what it does best, and I, for one, am here for it.
