Refreshed Nissan Magnite in SA — Price & Specs

The refreshed Nissan Magnite has made landfall on South African shores, with the revised version of the Japanese automaker’s compact crossover/SUV sporting several subtle cosmetic and interior updates. Here is a closer look at the local model line-up…

Comprising a total of nine derivatives, the refreshed Magnite is available with the option of two petrol engine options, a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-pot and a turbocharged unit with the same displacement and number of cylinders.

Available with a five-speed manual gearbox and automated manual transmission (AMT) with the same number of cogs, the atmospheric powertrain produces 53 kW and 96 N.m of torque. Nissan claims the BR10 unit, whether equipped with the manual or AMT, sips, on average, 5.9 L/100 km.

Driving the turbocharged derivatives’ front wheels are either a five-speed manual ’box or Nissan’s X-Tronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). The turbo-triple churns out 74 kW and 152 N.m of torque, the latter of which is available from 2 200 r/min to 4 400 r/min. The turbocharged unit has a claimed average fuel consumption figure of 6.0 L/100 km.

A trio of trim grades are on offer, starting with Visia level of specification. The entry point to the local Magnite range, Visa spec includes 16-inch steel wheels, replete with wheel covers; a multifunction steering wheel; automatic air conditioning; rear park distance sensors; tyre pressure monitoring; and six airbags.

Acenta spec upgrades to an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring; 7.0-inch digital instrumentation; keyless start/stop; LED headlamps, replete with daytime-running lights; LED fog lamps; and 16-inch alloy wheels.

On top of the aforementioned features, Acenta Plus grade gains leather trim for the steering wheel; two-tone leather-wrapped pews; and a surround-view camera system. CVT-equipped variants further gains cruise control.

How much does the refreshed Nissan Magnite cost in South Africa?

The Magnite range kicks off at R246 200 for the naturally aspirated, five-speed manual model specified in Visia trim. The turbocharged models are priced from R309 700. As standard, all models feature a six-year/150 000 km warranty and a three-year/30 000 km service plan.
