Omoda South Africa has revised its C5 model line-up, introducing the Street+ and Style X derivatives to our shores.
In July 2024, Omoda introduced the C5 Style to its local C5 model line-up — the newcomer positioned as the then-new entry-level offering in the Chinese automaker’s South African compact crossover/SUV portfolio. However, a few months later, in November 2024, this Chery sub-brand’s SA arm launched the Street derivative in a bid to offer consumers even more value for their money. Well, Omoda SA has now handed its C5 range another round of updates; replacing the latter and former derivatives with the Street+ and Style X variants — the latter joining the X Series Lux and Elegance models, which were introduced to our market in April 2025.

So, what is new? Well, for starters, the Street+ ditches the Street’s 83 kW/138 N.m 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine for the same turbocharged unit employed by its siblings. Equipped with forced induction, the 1.5-litre powertrain produces a healthier 115 kW and 230 N.m of torque. Power is exclusively delivered to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Although endowed with more power than the model it replaces, Omoda says the Street+ is more economical at the pumps, with the claimed average fuel consumption now 0.4 L/100 km less, at 6.9 L/100 km. Street+ spec features such items as 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, and an upgraded sound system, which now features two additional speakers for a total of six.
Said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager at Omoda & Jaecoo SA, “Omoda continues to challenge expectations of what an entry-level crossover can offer. The Street+ delivers the same confident performance, comfort, and technology that define the C5 line-up, at a price that makes premium more accessible.”
Now sporting the ‘X’ denomination, the updated Style derivative ditches the previously employed CVT for a dual-clutch gearbox — the latter improving average fuel consumption (down 0.4 L/100 km to 6.9 L/100 km, the firm claims) and acceleration. This model’s suspension setup has also been revised, with a multilink rear setup replacing the torsion beam arrangement. The Style X gains LED headlamps, leather-trimmed steering wheel, sports seats and several other convenience-focused upgrades.
“Building on the recently updated Luxury X and Elegance X models, the Style X represents the latest evolution of the C5 line-up,” said Gahagan. “Omoda is committed to continually refining its vehicles to deliver a more compelling package for South African drivers. The Style X bridges the gap between the Luxury X and Elegance X variants, offering the same style, performance, and practicality at a more accessible price point.”
