Omoda SA launches new entry-level C5 Style

Omoda South Africa has introduced a brand-new entry-level derivative to its C5 line-up, with the new base-spec variant, which comes in the shape of the “Style”, priced below R360 000. Here’s what you can expect, including pricing and spec, from the opening gambit to the local C5 portfolio…

According to Hans Greyling, General Manager of Omoda and Jaecoo, “While the C5 range was competitively priced right from the outset, we believe this smartly specified new Style derivative will help us to welcome even more customers into the Omoda family.” So, how much does the C5 Style cost exactly?

The C5 Style is priced from R359 900, making it a whopping R118 000 less expensive than the model that sits above it — the 1.5T 230T Lux — in the six-strong local line-up. As standard, the asking price includes a service plan spanning two years of 30 000 km, a five-year/150 000 km factory warranty, and a 10-year/1 million km engine warranty, the latter of which is only valid for the first owner.

However, although costing much less than the 1.5T 230T Lux, the local arm of the Chinese automaker says the Style variant is anything but sparsely equipped. As standard, the C5 Style ships with a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, sports seats for the driver and front passenger, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a touch-enabled infotainment display measuring of the same size. The latter setup incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, both of which can be activated via USB or wirelessly. A six-speaker audio system is also included in the package.

In addition, the C5 Style features automatic air conditioning, a reverse-view camera system, which is supplemented by rear park distance sensors, cruise control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Automatic headlamps (of the LED variety) are also present. The C5 Style is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels.

Safety items include ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a duo of Isofix child-seat anchorages on the rear bench, and a quartet of airbags.
