New Ford Tourneo Custom: pricing officially released!

In mid-September 2024, the new Ford Tourneo Custom made landfall on South African shores. However, at the time, the local arm of the Blue Oval brand had yet to reveal official pricing for the latest iteration of its people-mover. Now, Ford South Africa has finally announced official pricing for the box-fresh Tourneo.

Currently, the local new Tourneo Custom model range comprises only a single derivative, which is exclusively available in Trend level of specification and long-wheelbase (LWB) configuration, and with one engine option, the company’s familiar 2.0SiT, coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. But we’ll get to the mechanical specifications and convenience features in a few. First, let’s take a look at how much you can expect to pay for this variant…

How much does the new Ford Tourneo Custom cost in South Africa?

The sole Tourneo Custom currently available in South Africa (a fair bet would be that mid-spec and top-tier variants will be introduced to Mzansi in the future) is priced from R1 070 000. As standard, the sticker price includes a four-year/120 000 km warranty. In addition, the retail price is inclusive of Ford’s Protect optional service plan, the latter of which spans six years or 90 000 km.

So, let’s take a look under the bonnet. As mentioned, the (eight-seater) Tourneo Trend is equipped with Ford’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, the same 2.0SiT oil-burner available with several Ranger bakkies (whether the firm’s twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel will be available remains to be seen). However, whereas the 2.0SiT unit produces 125 kW and 405 N.m in the Ranger, in the Tourneo Custom, it has been tuned to produce 100 kW and 360 N.m of torque, the latter of which is available from 1 750 r/min. In addition, instead of the six-speed automatic cog swapper equipped to the Ranger, the Tourneo Custom drives its front wheels via an eight-speed self-shifter.

Moving on to convenience features, Trend trim grade includes niceties such as a 13.0-inch, touch-enabled infotainment screen, which incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring; an 8.0-inch configurable digital driver’s display, housed inside a 12.0-inch instrument binnacle; a wireless smartphone charging pad; a 10-speaker sound system; dual-zone climate control for the front occupants; and air conditioning for passengers sited at the rear. Front seat heating is also present.
