New Audi A5 arrives in Mzansi: Pricing, specs and more

The new Audi A5 has touched down in Mzansi. Here’s pricing and what you can expect from the model line-up.

The box-fresh A5 is available with the choice of two drivetrains: front-wheel and all-wheel, with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol equipped with the former and latter producing 146 kW/240 N.m and 200 kW/400 N.m, respectively. Both powertrains delivers drive to the road via the German marque’s seven-speed S tronic gearbox. Audi claims the front-wheel-drive models and quattro derivatives sip, on average, 7.5 L/100 km and 8.1 L/100 km, respectively. The claimed 0-100 km/h sprint times are rated at 7.8 seconds (front-wheel drive) and 5.9 seconds (quattro).

How much does the new Audi A5 cost in South Africa?

In Mzansi, the brand-new A5 ships with S line level of specification as standard. Though, customers also have the option of having their A5 with the Black Edition package. The former is priced from R1 123 000 and R1 238 000 for the front-wheel-drive and quattro derivatives, respectively, while the front-wheel-drive Black Edition and all-paw Black Edition models will set you back R1 166 800 and R1 281 800, respectively. Pricing includes a one-year/unlimited km warranty and a maintenance plan spanning five years or 100 000 km.

As standard all models ship with Audi’s new dual MMI panoramic display setup, which comprises a curved, 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, which runs on Android Automotive, and a 11.9-inch virtual cockpit. A 10.9-inch front passenger display is available at additional cost. A configurable head-up display is also present. A neat addition to the options list is a panoramic glass sunroof, which, using advanced polymer-dispersed liquid crystal technology, adjusts between clear and shaded sections.
