Mercedes-AMG has announced it is entering a new dimension of performance, spearheaded by the Concept AMG GT XX — a new design study previewing a future AMG model.

Previewing a future Mercedes-AMG model, the Concept GT XX introduces the Affalterbach marque’s “revolutionary” new battery electric drivetrain, which comprises “high-performance” axial flux electric motors and a “new kind” of battery technology. A “pioneering” technology programme, the performance-focused four-door is equipped with three of these “innovative” electric motors — a single unit sited at the front and two sited at the rear.

This car is a true AMG with every fibre of its being.

The Concept AMG GT XX’s tri-motor drivetrain produces “over” 1 000 kW, Mercedes-AMG says. According to the company, this jaw-dropping total system output allows the all-paw all-electric concept car to top out at speeds in excess of 360 km/h.

The Concept AMG GT XX’s “groundbreaking” high-voltage battery can receive up to 850 kW at a DC fast charging station. Thanks to its rapid charging capabilities, the 800 V item gains 400 km of operating range after just five minutes.

“The Concept AMG GT XX is the next milestone in the history of AMG and forges a whole new dimension of performance. We’re bringing groundbreaking technology that redefines high performance. And the best thing is that this car is a true AMG with every fibre of its being,” said Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and Head of Business Units Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Mercedes-Maybach.

Schiebe added, “With our high-tech axial flux motor, we’re delivering a revolutionary new drive that is unparalleled in terms of power density, weight and packaging. This pairs with a new performance battery […] that enables previously unimagined level of performance and endurance.”
