Nissan has unveiled the new Micra, with the sixth-generation version now employing a fully electric powertrain.
Boasting quirky exterior styling, a tech-laden interior and all-electric drivetrain, the sixth-generation Nissan Micra has made its debut. Here’s a closer look at the new iteration…
The new-energy Micra is available in two flavours, with the opening gambit to the line-up equipped with a 40 kWh battery pack, coupled with an electric motor producing 90 kW and 225 N.m of torque. Nissan claims this (1 400 kg) derivative offers an all-electric operating range of up to 309 km. Spearheading the model range, the (1 524 kg) 52 kWh variant is endowed with 110 kW and 245 N.m of twisting force, and has a claimed emissions-free range of 407 km.
A quartet of driver’s modes is available: ‘comfort’, ‘sport’, ‘eco’ and ‘Perso’, the latter of which allowing the driver to tailor the drivetrain’s parameters to their preferences.
The 52 kWh Micra’s AmpR electric architecture supports up to 100 kW DC fast charging, which, the firm says, allows for a 15 per cent to 80 per cent charge in 30 minutes. (The 40 kWh model supports 80 kWh rapid charging.)
In addition, both versions’ setups have vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, which allows owners to use the battery to power external devices, such as speakers, air pumps and vacuum cleaners.
The Micra is equipped with independent front and multilink rear suspension configuration.
Stepping inside, the cabin features a dual display arrangement, comprising a high-resolution 10.1-inch digital instrument binnacle and, positioned towards the driver, a touch-enabled infotainment screen of similar size. Ambient lighting is included in the package. Subtle design elements, including a moulded outline of Mount Fuji, are also present.
