Singer unveils stunning reimagined 911 Carrera Cabriolet

Limited to just 75 examples, Singer has unveiled its latest reimagined 964-generation Porsche 911.

When it comes to reimagining Porsches for the 21st century, Singer Vehicle Design is up there with the best … if not the best in the business. The US company has now extended its restoration services to the 964-generation 911 Carrera Cabriolet. Looks stunning, doesn’t it?

Taking inspiration from the wide-body 911 Carrera Cabriolet from the 1980s, the reimagined model is available in two specifications: touring and sport — the former and latter pictured here in Pacific Blue and Guards Red, respectively. As you may have noticed, the sports-focused model is fitted with a fixed “wale tail” rear wing. The touring-focused spec gains a speed-activated rear wing. Both models feature unique front splitters, respectively.

Retaining the donor car’s monocoque chassis — the latter now strengthened through using composite and steel reinforcement for improved refinement and handling — the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined by Singer’s suspension setup adopts new four-way adjustable dampers. Through the inclusion of electronic damping control, the driver can adjust the suspension arrangement, including the nose lift system, from the cabin. The Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined by Singer’s lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork wraps around a set of 18-inch centre-lock wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport rubber.

So, what about the engine? Well, that comes in the shape of a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six. The high-revving horizontally-opposed six-cylinder unit produces over 300 kW, with power delivered to the rear axle via a six-speed manual transmission. According to the California-based firm, the engine will rev to over 8 000 r/min — the soundtrack provided by a newly developed titanium exhaust system. Bringing this model to a stop is a set of carbon-ceramic brakes.

In true Singer fashion, while the interior remains largely familiar to the donor car’s, the instrument panel gains hand-built gauges. Several contemporary convenience items have also been added, including Apple CarPlay and sat-nav, though incorporated in such a way as to not take away from the original design. Singer Vehicle Design also offers customers the option of specifying sports or track seats.
