Since 2022, the Mercedes-AMG One held the record for fastest production car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife. However, the German marque has now improved on the latter, announcing it has, with an AMG One, beaten the previous record-breaking time.

Commenting on the newly set Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record, Maro Engel, Mercedes-AMG brand ambassador and DTM driver, noted the track conditions of the previous record-breaking run. “Two years ago, the conditions were not ideal, and some sections of the track were still a little damp,” Engel mentioned. “We knew we could do more, and we wanted to show that. Today we were able to demonstrate the maximum potential of the AMG One.”
Indeed, this time around, the track conditions were near perfect for the German racing driver to beat the targeted lap time set out by the Affalterbach-based brand — 6 minutes and 30 seconds — and truly demonstrate the maximum potential of the Three-pointed Star’s 782 kW hybrid hypercar. It is a feat Engel achieved. Engel lapped the challenging 20.832 km Northern Loop of the Green Hell in an impressive 6 minutes and 29.090 seconds, besting the AMG One’s previous Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record by “over” five seconds.
Once again, we’ve impressively demonstrated the spirit and expertise of AMG.
“We’ve held the record for road vehicles for almost two years now. But, at AMG, we always want to push the boundaries of what is possible to the maximum, or even push them a little further. That’s why we have once again demonstrated what is possible with the unique AMG One,” said Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes‑AMG GmbH, and Head of the Mercedes‑Benz G‑Class and Mercedes‑Maybach divisions.
Schiebe added, “The entire team has been rewarded for its efforts and commitment. I’m proud of this determined team effort and of this fantastic record time. Once again, we’ve impressively demonstrated the spirit and expertise of AMG.”
