In August 2024, Ford South Africa announced pricing for the new-generation Mustang GT. Now, the South African arm of the US automaker has revealed pricing and specifications for the Mustang Dark Horse, the pinnacle model in the firm’s local Mustang portfolio. See pricing below…

Sited below the sculpted bonnet of the Mustang Dark Horse is the Blue Oval brand’s 5.0-litre, naturally aspirated V8, which, here has been tuned to churn out 334 kW (6 kW up from the Mustang GT’s peak power output) and 540 N.m of torque, available from 7 250 r/min and 5 100 r/min, respectively. The atmospheric petrol unit is coupled with the firm’s familiar 10-speed automatic cog swapper, which exclusively drives the rear axle.
According to the company, the uprated, “specially modified” (for the Mustang Dark Horse) Coyote unit’s outputs allow the Mustang Dark Horse to complete the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds, five-tenths of a second quicker than the Mustang GT’s claimed 4.9 seconds, before topping out at 250 km/h. The claimed average fuel consumption figure is 12.8 L/100 km.
In addition to the variety of upgrades made to the engine, the Mustang Dark Horse has also received “improved” aero, while the steering setup has been “enhanced”, thanks to the fitment of a new lightweight strut tower brace, designed by Ford Performance, for “even better” feedback and handling. A Torsen rear differential is also included in the package. Housed within the 19-inch allows, wrapped in mixed-size Pirelli P Zero tyres, is a set of Brembo brakes.
Inside, the Mustang Dark Horse features a 12.4-inch digital instrument binnacle, a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, among many other items.

How much does the Ford Mustang Dark Horse cost in South Africa?
