The Lexus LX 700h’s petrol-electric powertrain comprises a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6, supplemented by an electric motor for combined peak power and torque outputs of 341 kW and 790 N.m, the latter of which is sent to all four corners — via a 10-speed automatic transmission — as soon as the rev needle edges the 2 000 r/min marker. According to the Japanese automaker, the hybrid arrangement sips, on average, 10 L/100 km.
Sited below the LX 500d’s expansive bonnet is a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 diesel motor producing 225 kW and 700 N.m of twisting force, the latter of which available from a mere 1 600 r/min. This derivative is also equipped with a 10-speed self-shifter. Lexus claims an average fuel consumption of 8.3 L/100 km for the diesel unit.
The LX 700h will be available with the choice of three trim grades — F Sport and Overtrail, both of which also available on the LX 500d, and VIP level of specification. Sporting “race-inspired” design elements, F Sport includes a black mesh front grille, 22-inch alloy wheels, and model-specific seats. Designed with off-roading in mind, Overtrail spec features such items as “rugged” 18-inch alloy wheels. This variant also features seven seats. Positioned at the top of the range, the VIP package includes “NASA-inspired”, 48-degree reclining seats, replete with massage functionality. Contoured headrests are also included among the array of standard items present on VIP spec.

The local Lexus LX range is priced from R2 557 500 for the LX 500 F Sport model, with the LX 700h variants’ pricing starting at R2 666 500. As standard, all models ship with a warranty and maintenance plan spanning seven years or 100 000 km, with the LX 700h derivatives’ sticker prices including an eight-year/195 000 km warranty for the hybrid powertrain’s battery.
