The Lepas L4 has officially touched down in Mzansi. We detail the three-strong model range and how much you can expect to pay for this newcomer to the highly competitive compact-SUV segment.
Kicking off the three-strong Lepas L4 model range, the Amur variant employs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, which is coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. The 1 498 cc unit produces 80 kW and 148 N.m of torque — the former and latter available from 6 300 r/min and 4 900 r/min, respectively. Lepas claims an average fuel consumption of 6.9 L/100 km, which translates to a driving range of over 730 km, for the atmospheric powertrain.
The mid-spec, Javan model and flagship, Pantera derivative are equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 108 kW and 225 N.m. The full complement of power and torque are available from 5 500 r/min and 2 000 r/min, respectively. The 1 499 cc unit is exclusively paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. According to the firm, the turbocharged powertrain sips, on average, 7.0 L/100 km. Matching the latter figure allows for a driving range of over 720 km on a full 51-litre tank of fuel.
