Chery’s iCAUR new-energy vehicle (NEV) sub-brand is gearing up for the launch of the V23 emissions-free SUV, with the Chinese automaker not only announcing the official local launch date, but also the South African model line-up.

Said the brand, “The V23 marks iCAUR’s first model for South Africa and introduces a different take on the electric SUV formula. With its squared-off proportions and modern electric underpinnings, it blends nostalgic design cues with contemporary technology in a package aimed at buyers looking for something out of the ordinary.”

When will the iCAUR V23 launch in South Africa?

iCAUR has announced that the V23 will officially launch in Mzansi in May 2026. Full pricing will be revealed closer to the V23’s arrival in our market.

The local V23 line-up will comprise a duo of models: V23 2WD and V23 AWD. Starting with the former, the V23 2WD’s single electric-motor powertrain, coupled with a 60 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, produces 100 kW and 180 N.m of torque. The all-paw derivative’s dual electric-motor drivetrain produces peak power and torque outputs of 155 kW and 292 N.m. The V23 AWD also gains a larger, 82 kWh battery.

Available with the choice of three interior colour options, the V23’s cabin plays host to such niceties as 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone screen mirroring, a seven-speaker audio system, and electrically adjustable front seats.

The V23 2WD rolls on a set of 19-inch wheels, wrapped in 255/55-size tyres. The V23 AWD upgrades to 21-inch items, shod in 265/45-size rubber.

“The V23 represents an important step for the iCAUR brand in South Africa,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager at iCAUR South Africa. “It brings together distinctive design, modern electric performance and innovation, supported by a strong standard specification, in a way that we believe will resonate with local buyers.”
