Iconic BMWs to take centre stage at upcoming Creative Rides auction

South African auction house Creative Rides has announced a number of sought-after BMW models will be offered at its upcoming Spring Auction, which will take place on 18 September 2025.

Creative Rides’ Spring Auction will offer collectors the opportunity to bid on a host of iconic BMW models. Spanning more than four decades, the collection of BMWs that will be offered on 18 September at the firm’s Bryanston showroom in Johannesburg brings together some of the rarest and most collectible BMWs ever produced, from homegrown legends to ultra-exclusive motorsport creations, Creative Rides says.

Among the standout cars that will be included in the line-up is a 1987 example of the locally built E30-generation BMW 333i – the latter finished in Henna Red paintwork and equipped with power steering. Alongside this sought-after South African classic, of which only 204 examples were ever produced, is a 1999 example of the Bavarian automaker’s E36-generation M3 GT2. Dressed in Imola Red, the latter is one of only 50 units worldwide.

The collection will also feature the E30-generation 3 Series-based 1986 Alpina C2 2.5, of which only 74 units were built; a 2006 E60-generation M5, which employs the Munich manufacturer’s revered 5.0-litre V10 engine; and a duo of grand tourers – a 1982 BMW 635 CSi, finished in Arctic Blue Metallic, and a 2007 BMW 650i Convertible.

“BMW Motorsport has given the world some of its most iconic performance cars. To see such a diverse and significant lineup — from the South African-built 333i to the ultra-rare M3 GT2 — gathered under one roof is truly special. This auction is a celebration of BMW heritage and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for enthusiasts to secure a piece of motoring history,” said Creative Rides CEO Kevin Derrick.

However, it won’t be a BMW-only affair, with an array of other cars, from a variety of manufactures, also scheduled to go under the hammer at the company’s Spring Auction. This includes an Alfa Romeo GT Junior Stepnose, Honda NSX, Renault Clio V6 Phase 2, and a Bentley Continental GTC.

Added Derrick, “The September Evening Auction showcases exactly what makes our events so unique — variety and rarity. From Bentley’s ultimate open-top luxury to Alfa’s racing tribute and the rebellious Clio V6, every lot has a story and a following.”
