The Escort Mk1 RS is iconic. As such, reimagining this famed Ford as a modern package is no easy feat. However, the folks over at Boreham Motorworks were up to the task, with the UK company bringing the Escort Mk1 RS back to life with a stunning continuation model, or ‘Continumod’. Only 150 examples will be made, each priced at a whopping £295 000 (R 6 787 849.70!).
Noteworthy, the Escort Mk1 RS Continumod build does not make use of a donor car. Instead, the reimagined version is built from the ground up. However, although reimagined for the modern age, the limited edition stays true to the original it takes inspiration from. Adding to the reimagined version’s authenticity, each model has a Ford-approved chassis number.

As standard, the Escort Mk1 RS Continumod is equipped with a 1.8-litre Twin Cam engine, which produces 136 kW. This unit, which revs to 9 000 r/min, is coupled with a four-speed ‘Ford bullet’ synchromesh straight-cut cog swapper.
However, for those desiring more driving thrills, Boreham Motorworks offers a 2.1-litre four-pot, which churns out 221 kW. Coupled with a five-speed dog-leg manual gearbox, this motorsport-derived motor revs to an eardrum-rattling 10 000 r/min.
