Boasting “battle-ready” off-road upgrades, Nissan South Africa has introduced the Navara Warrior to Mzansi. Here’s what you can expect…
Developed in partnership with Premcar, Nissan’s Australian engineering partner, the Navara Warrior is based on, and shares an engine with, the Pro-4X 4×4 double-cab variant. As a reminder, the latter model is powered by the Japanese automaker’s 140 kW/450 N.m 2.5-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, equipped with a seven-speed automatic cog swapper.

However, the Navara Warrior is set apart from the bakkie is it based on via several 4×4-focused upgrades, the most notable of which are a revised suspension system and 275/65-size MAXXIS RAZR all-terrain rubber, wrapped around 17-inch alloy wheels. As a result the ground clearance has increased, from 221 mm to 232 mm. An array of model-specific cosmetic updates are also included in the package.

How much does the Nissan Navara Warrior cost in South Africa?
The Navara Warrior’s R924 000 sticker price includes a service plan spanning six years or 90 000 km, and a six-year/150 000 km vehicle warranty.

“The Navara has always been a standout contender in [the pick-up] category, but Premcar has taken it a step further by engineering perhaps the toughest and most durable Navara yet — setting a new standard for off-road capabilities and performance,” said Maciej Klenkiewicz, Managing Director of Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa (IMA).
“The [Navara] Warrior pushes the boundaries of what’s possible within the premium pick-up segment; meeting Africa’s demand for vehicles capable of handling the roughest roads while remaining refined and comfortable enough to drive every day.”
Speaking of the testing regiment the Navara Warrior was put through during development, Premcar CEO Bernie Quinn said, “We have done literally tens of thousands of kilometres across a variety of conditions … The [Navara] Warrior has been tested on a high-speed circuit, a noise-calibration surface, off-road tracks and durability circuits. We’ve even tested it on really rutted, muddy tracks, sand dunes and deep corrugations. Basically, anything you can throw at it, it can manage with ease.”
