The all-new Renault Duster has been unveiled, with the latest model sporting a “more assertive” exterior design, upgraded tech and duo of electrified engine options. We dive into the highlights of the latest iteration of the French carmaker’s popular crossover.
Since its introduction in 2010, the Duster has been a staple in Renault’s portfolio. Over its 13-year lifespan, the company has produced 2.2 million units … and counting. Now, the new generation has made its debut, ready to build on its forebear’s fame.

The new Duster made its premiere with a couple of electrified powertrains. Indeed, it seems the current model’s frugal 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel has been shelved, with fully hybrid and mild-hybrid petrol units taking over duty. The former comes in the shape of a 1.6-litre four-pot incorporating twin electric motors, with the latter being a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit with a trio of cylinders and 48 V mild-hybrid tech.
The three-cylinder version can be had in 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains. Speaking of the four-wheel-drive Duster, this variant boasts “enhanced” all-terrain capabilities, Renault says. The 4×4 model features five terrain control settings: Auto, Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-Road, and Eco. This derivative has also been handed increased ground clearance (210 mm to 217 mm). At the same time, the approach and departure angles have been increased to 31 and 36 degrees (up by 1 and 3 degrees, respectively).
The exterior has been given a thorough revamp. The redesigned, tapered headlamps, replete with new daytime-running lights, flank a slim grille. The taillamps are also brand-new. Depending on the grade, the Duster sits on 17- or 18-inch wheels.

The cabin, too, has been overhauled. A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits at the centre of the dashboard (depending on the spec level you go for), with a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster found fore the multifunction steering wheel on some models. The former set-up features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless smartphone charging is also included with some grades, as is a six-speaker sound system.
