The limited-edition BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 is coming to South Africa!

BMW has unveiled the M4 CS Edition VR46, a new limited edition based on the potent, CS-badged M4 that pays tribute to nine-time World Motorcycle Champion Valentino Rossi on his 46th birthday. What’s more, BMW South Africa has confirmed it is heading to local shores. Here’s what you can expect…

How many BMW M4 CS Edition VR46s will be made?

A total of 91 examples of the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 will be made, and split between the Sport and Style versions. Of the 91 units, the local arm of the German marque has confirmed 10 has been penned in for South Africa.

When will the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 arrive in South Africa?

The BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 will arrive in South Africa from the third quarter of 2025.

How much does the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 cost?

Pricing for the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 has yet to be released. However, a fair bet would be that this limited edition’s sticker price will surpass that of the car it is based on. As a reminder, each of the 25 M4 CS examples introduced to South Africa in 2024 was priced from R3 050 000.

However, the to-be-expected premium asking price of the M4 CS Edition VR46 includes not only the car… The purchase includes a two-day experience in Italy, which comprises a visit to the VR46 Motor Ranch in Tavullia, including a braai with Valentino Rossi himself, and BMW M Driving Experience at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Sporting a raft of model-specific design elements — including bright-yellow accents, inside and out — the M4 CS Edition VR46’s high-revving 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six produces 405 kW and 650 N.m of torque, allowing the pinnacle all-paw 4 to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically governed to 302 km/h.

“There is no other brand that has motorsport so deeply rooted in its DNA as BMW M. I am proud to be a BMW M works driver, and to share this passion. The fact that there is now a special VR46 edition, in which I was involved from the very beginning of the design process, makes me proud. When I see the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 out on the road or on the race track later, it will be very cool,” said Rossi.
