Tata Passenger Vehicles has relaunched operations in Mzansi. We highlight the automaker’s initial model line-up.
Tata Tiago
The entry point to Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle’s local line-up will come in the shape of the Tiago, a “stylish” compact hatchback aimed at bringing “youthful energy” to its segment. Available with the choice of either a five-speed manual gearbox or automated manual transmission (AMG), the Tiago’s 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 63 kW and 113 N.m of torque. The Tiago will feature such items Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled touchscreen infotainment, which, depending on the trim line, will measure either seven inches or 10.25 inches in size; a digital driver’s display; and a reverse-view camera.

Tata Punch
The opening gambit to Tata’s crossover/SUV portfolio, the Punch is equipped with the same Revotron petrol engine employed by the Tiago, though, here, the 1.2-litre unit has been tuned to produce 65 kW and 113 N.m of torque. The Punch package will include such (model-specific) items as a seven-inch Harman infotainment system or “floating” 10.5-inch unit, both of which incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring.

Tata Curvv
A coupé-styled compact crossover/SUV, the Curvv’s in-vogue profile measures 4 308 mm in length. Tata says the Curvv will offer “impressive” ground clearance. Sited below this model’s bonnet is a 88 kW and 170 N.m version of the firm’s Revotron engine, which will be available with the choice of two transmission options: a six-speed manual gearbox or “advanced” seven-speed self-shifter. Depending on the trim grade, the Curvv’s Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled, touchscreen infotainment system measures either seven inches or 10.25 inches in size. Digital instrumentation will also be present, along with a 360-degree surround-view camera setup. The package will include six airbags.

Tata Harrier
Billed as a full-size SUV that brings together striking design, commanding performance and premium comfort, the Harrier spearheads Tata’s passenger-vehicle portfolio. Measuring 4 605 mm in length, the Harrier employs the firm’s “refined” 2.0-litre Kryotec turbocharged engine, which produces 125 kW and 350 N.m of torque. The Tata Harrier can be had with either a 10.25- or 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring; dual-zone climate control; and ventilated front seats. Six airbags are included in the package.
