The refreshed Hyundai Creta range has touched down on South African shores, with the new model line-up now featuring box-fresh derivatives in the shape of ‘Matte Black’ versions of Premium and Exclusive levels of specification.
However, most notably, bar the newly introduced, ‘Matte Black’ variants, the sticker prices of the Premium and Exclusive models, compared to their pre-facelifted counterparts, have been reduced, making the Creta range even more accessible than before. But before we get to local pricing, let’s take a look at the fresh-faced Creta model line-up…
Locally, the revised range comprises five derivatives. Starting with what is sited below the bonnet of each derivative, as with the pre-facelifted models, a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine is employed by each variant. Power and torque outputs have remained unchanged. The naturally aspirated unit is endowed with 84 kW and 144 N.m, available from 6 300 r/min and 4 500 r/min, respectively.
Power and torque is exclusively sent to the crossover/SUV’s front axle via either a six-speed manual cog swapper (in the entry-level variant) or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) — or, in Hyundai speak, ‘Intelligent Variable Transmission’ (IVT) — in the remaining models. The automaker claims average fuel consumption figures of 6.5 L/100 km (manual) and 6.3 L/100 km (IVT).
How much does the refreshed Hyundai Creta Cost in South Africa?
Priced from R449 900, the refreshed entry-level, Premium-spec model equipped with a six-speed manual cog swapper, will set you back 4.17 per cent less than the pre-facelifted version. Likewise, the Premium-spec IVT and Executive-spec models’ prices have been dropped by 2.16 per cent and 0.5 per cent, respectively. Included with all variants are a seven-year/200 000 km warranty and a service plan spanning four years or 60 000 km.
