Land Rover has handed the flagship Range Rover the ‘Black’ treatment, with the local arm of the British marque revealing pricing for the new flagship.
Land Rover just recently whipped the wraps off the Defender Octa Black and Range Rover Sport SV Black. However, if you thought that was it, you’d be mistaken — another Range Rover has been handed the ‘Black’ treatment, this time the flagship model in the British marque’s SUV portfolio. Meet the Range Rover SV Black.
So, what sets the Range Rover Sport SV apart from its siblings? Well, as its name would suggest, it boasts exterior trim elements finished in, you guessed it, black. The bodywork is dressed in Narvik Gloss Black paintwork and the front grille is finished in polished Gloss Black, as is the ‘Range Rover’ lettering sited atop the “clamshell” bonnet. The same hue has been applied to this car’s 23-inch alloy wheels, which house gloss black brake callipers with darker ‘Range Rover’ branding.

The colour scheme has been carried over to the cabin, where satin black finishes are abound. The pews are upholstered in Near-Aniline Ebony leather, which the company says is “silky” to the touch. Graduated rectangle perforations and “unique” stitching are also present on the seats Rounding off the interior, the gear lever is trimmed in satin black ceramic, while Moonlight Chrome detailing has been applied to several elements.
Based on the Range Rover P615 SV, the Range Rover SV Black employs a 452 kW/750 N.m version of the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 employed by the Defender Octa and Range Rover Sport SV. Power and torque is available from 5 850 r/min (to 7 000 r/min) and a lowly 1 800 r/min (to 5 400 r/min), respectively, and channelled to the all four corners via an eight-speed automatic cog swapper. As a reminder, the BMW-sourced petrol unit produces 467 kW in the former and latter SUVs.
However, the 452 kW available with the over 2.7-tonne flagship is plenty to propel it to the three-figure marker from a standstill in just 4.5 seconds (claimed), while engaging Dynamic Launch shaves two-tenths of a second off the latter time. The top speed is quoted at 261 km/h.
How much does the Range Rover SV Black cost in South Africa?
The Range Rover Sport SV Black is available in standard- and long-wheelbase forms, priced from R5 269 200 and R5 718 700, respectively.
