The new Mercedes-AMG GLC derivatives, in both SUV and Coupé body styles, have blasted on to South African shores, with the local arm of the German automaker revealing pricing for the pinnacle models in its GLC portfolio. But before we get to their respective sticker prices, let us first take a look below each variant’s bonnet; starting with the flagship 63 S E Performance…
Employing the same petrol-electric powertrain — comprising a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, endowed with 350 kW and 545 N.m of torque, and 150 kW/320 N.m electric motor — as its high-performance sedan sibling, the C63 S E Performance, the latest GLC 63 S produces staggering peak power and torque outputs of 500 kW and 1 020 N.m. According to the Affalterbach automaker, these figures allow both the SUV and Coupé to complete the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.5 seconds, just one-tenth of a second slower than the C63 S E Performance, before reaching an electronically governed maximum speed of 275 km/h.
Like the 63 S E Performance models, the 43’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit, which incorporates 48 V mild-hybrid tech, is coupled with the Three-pointed Star brand’s AMG Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed self-shifter, which, here, directs 310 kW and 500 N.m of torque to all four corners. The company claims the SUV and Coupé sprint to the three-figure marker from a standstill in 4.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds slower the C43 sedan. The maximum speed is electronically governed to 250 km/h.

The local Mercedes-AMG GLC SUV model range is priced from R1 876 750 for the 43 4Matic to R2 760 000 for the 63 S E Performance 4Matic+ derivative, with their coupé-styled counterparts priced from R1 911 750 to R2 930 000, respectively. As standard, all models ship with a maintenance plan spanning five years or 100 000 km, and a two-year/unlimited km warranty.
