Isuzu unwraps one-of-a-kind D-Max Arctic Trucks AT37

A staple in Isuzu’s stable, the tried-and-tested D-Max has been around for more than two decades. Since its introduction, the D-Max (or KB, as it was formally known on South African shores) has been (and still is) a faithful companion to many, which, in 2023, included OPC’s own Calvin Fisher, who, last year, embarked on a 1 200 km road trip to the Simola Hillclimb in an Extended cab version of the new generation.

However, what if you were planning on road tripping to the most desolate environments on the globe? Well, for that, Isuzu and Arctic Trucks collaborated on the D-Max AT35, an adventure-ready D-Max boasting a host of upgraded 4×4 kit, ranging from suspension enhancements to chunkier off-road tyres. Want to go even further? Well, enter the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT37.

Revealed at the 2024 Commercial Vehicle Show, the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT37 is one of a kind. Yup, there’s only one (it is a show car, after all; but here’s hoping it goes into production). And, according to the UK arm of the Japanese automaker, represents the zenith in the D-Max line-up.

Billed as the most imposing vehicle ever created by Isuzu, the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT37 aims to build upon the success of the AT35-badged variant and push the boundaries of capability and adventure to new heights. To achieve this, it’s been fitted with an extensive amount of upgraded kit.

D-Max

The D-Max Arctic Trucks AT37, as the number in its name would suggest (much like the AT35’s) sits on a set of massive, 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 mud-terrain tyres. There’s more, though. Much more. In addition to the latter, it has also been equipped with 10-way adjustable Bilstein performance suspension. As a result, this derivative’s ground clearance has increased. By how much you ask? Well, by 140 mm to 372 mm.

“The Isuzu D-Max Arctic Trucks AT37 is a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the realm of utility vehicles,” said Alan Able, Isuzu UK Managing Director. “It embodies the spirit of adventure and resilience that Isuzu owners have come to expect.”
