Chery South Africa has expanded its Tiggo 7 line-up with the introduction of a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain.
The Chery Tiggo 7 CSH is available in two flavours: Plus and Ultra. As standard, both models ship with a dual panoramic display layout, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a touch-enabled infotainment screen of similar size. The latter item incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, Bluetooth connectivity and voice control functionality.
A 50 W wireless smartphone charging bay, dual-zone climate control, a 540-degree surround-view camera system, fore and aft park distance sensors, leather trim for the seats and multifunction steering wheel, six-way electric adjustment for the driver’s pew, and keyless entry and start are also included across the range.

Plus level of specification further features a six-speaker audio system, while Ultra grade upgrades to a Sony eight-speaker unit. Flagship trim also gains heating and ventilation for the front seats, four-way electric adjustment for the front passenger pew and additional driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and lane-change assist, to name but a few. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Plus and Ultra spec. Chery claims a boot capacity of 626 litres, which expands to 1 672 litres for utility purposes when folding down the 60:40-split rear backrest.
The plug-in hybrid (PHEV, or CSH in Chery speak) Tiggo 7 models produce a total system output of 265 kW and 310 N.m of torque, delivered to the front axle via a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). The petrol-electric arrangement is coupled with an 18.3 kWh battery pack, which, the Chinese automaker claims, offers an electric-only driving range of up to 93 km on a single, full charge. The claimed combined fuel consumption is 4.9 L/100 km.
How much does the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH cost in South Africa?
The Chery Tiggo 7 CSH is priced from R619 900 to R679 900 for the Plus and Ultra models, respectively. However, it is worth noting that, the former derivative is, for the next three months, offered with an introductory launch price of R599 900. Pricing includes a five-year/150 000 km warranty and five-year/60 000 km service plan.
