Chery Tiggo 7 facelift lands in South Africa

Chery South Africa has introduced the facelifted Tiggo 7 model range to Mzansi. Here’s what you can expect…

The Tiggo 7 is one of Chery South Africa’s best-selling products. So, to enhance the appeal of this family SUV even further, the Chinese automaker has given the local Tiggo 7 line-up a refresh…and that’s including the recent introduction of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) — or CSH (Chery Super Hybrid) in Chery speak — models, which we reported on in June 2025.

How much does the facelifted Chery Tiggo 7 cost in South Africa?

The refreshed Chery Tiggo 7 model line-up is now priced from R429 900. As standard, the non-electrified, petrol-only models ship with a five-year/150 000 km warranty, while the CSH derivatives upgrade to a warranty that spans an additional two years. A five-year/60 000 km service plan is standard across the range, as is a 10-year/1 million km engine warranty for the first owner. CSH variants further include a 10-year/unlimited km battery warranty for first owners.

  • Chery Tiggo 7 1.5T Prime DCT — R429 900
  • Chery Tiggo 7 1.6T Prestige DCT — R499 900
  • Chery Tiggo 7 1.6T Legacy DCT — R549 900
  • Chery Tiggo 7 1.5 CSH Plus — R599 900

So, focusing on the first three of the models listed above, as you would have noticed, two engine options are on offer: a 1.5- and 1.6-litre, both turbocharged petrol and four-cylinder. The former produces 108 kW and 210 N.m of torque, and is coupled with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the latter churns out a healthier 147 kW and 290 N.m, and drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. According to the automaker, the 1.5- and 1.6-litre units sip 6.9 L/100 km and 7.2 L/100 km, respectively.

The model powered by the 1.5-litre engine is only available in entry-level, Prime level of specification, which, among several other items, includes an Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-enabled, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display of similar size, a six-speaker audio system, and a rear-view camera array. Four airbags are included with the Prime package.

The (1.6-litre) Prestige model gains a six-way electric adjustability for the driver’s pew, ambient lighting, a 540-degree surround-view camera system, and eight airbags. On top of all these features, Legacy upgrades to heated front seats, an eight-speaker sound system from Sony, and a panoramic sunroof, to name but a few additional items.
