BMW SA unveils M2 333i Homage edition

BMW Group South Africa has whipped the wraps off 333i Homage edition, a second-generation M2-based limited edition paying tribute to this homegrown 3 Series hero.

BMW Group South Africa is commemorating the legendary E30 333i with a limited-run Homage edition based on the current-generation M2. Now, why base this model, which pays tribute to a special 3 Series, on a 2 Series, we hear you ask? Well, since the second-generation 2 Series’ introduction in 2022, the Coupé variant has been widely praised as being the spiritual successor to the E30 3 Series. And according to the local arm of the German marque, this makes it the perfect foundation for these South African Homage car.

So, how does the 333i Homage edition differ from the “standard” M2? Well, the celebratory model features a Alpina wheels, ‘333i Homage’ decals, central quad exhaust pipes, bespoke spoilers and front splitter, Carbon bucket seats, an armrest covered in original second-generation Überkaro tartan upholstery, and a commemorative plaque (1 of 33). Five exterior colour options are on offer: Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Brooklyn Grey, Zandvoort Blue, and Fire Red.

As a reminder, the G87 M2 employs a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, which produces 353 kW and 600 N.m of torque, exclusively delivered to the rear axle. BMW claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.0 seconds for the eight-speed automatic model.

How much does the BMW 325iS Homage edition cost in South Africa?

Strictly limited to 33 examples, the BMW 333i Homage edition is offered at a reserve price of R1 960 000. The 333i Homage edition will be exclusively sold via an online auction on 21 October 2025. The BMW 333i was developed as South Africa’s answer to the first BMW M3, which was not offered locally. With a 3.2-litre six-cylinder engine and limited production numbers, the 333i has become one of the rarest and most collectible BMWs globally.
