All you need to know about the new Ford Territory: SA pricing, spec & more

In a bid to gain more, ahem, territory in the South African market, Ford has finally introduced the new Territory to its local portfolio. Here is all you need to know about the newcomer, including how much it will cost.

However, before we get to pricing, let’s take a look at the model line-up. The latter comprises three derivatives, the base-spec Ambiente, mid-spec Trend, and top-spec Titanium. Now, on to pricing…

The Ambiente is priced from R576 000, the Trend from R632 600, and the Titanium from  R707 000. As standard, all models ship with a four-year/120 000 km warranty. Service and maintenance plans are, however, optional.

But what about specifications? Well, let’s start with what’s beating under the bonnet of each model. The trio of Territory variants is powered by the Blue Oval brand’s 1.8-litre EcoBoost engine, which is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

“We expect the Territory to be a popular addition to the fast-growing SUV segment”

The four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit produces 138 kW and 318 Nm of torque, with the latter on tap from 1 750 r/min. Power is exclusively sent to the front wheels. Ford claims the EcoBoost powertrain sips 7.0 L/100 km on average.

Now, on to convenience items. As standard, all models are fitted with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which incorporates Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. In the Ambiente and Trend, the screen-mirroring software relays tuned over a six-speaker sound system, while the Titanium features an additional two speakers. The Trend and Titanium further upgrades to wireless smartphone charging.

“The Territory is an exciting addition to our South African line-up, with a modern design and advanced technologies that will appeal to young, smart and connected customers,” said Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford SA.

“With a commanding presence on the road, exceptional space and practicality inside, and an extensive range of high-tech features, we expect the Territory to be a popular addition to the fast-growing small-SUV segment in SA.”
