The follow-up act to the ZS, which currently serves as MG South Africa’s entry-level crossover/SUV, the ZS Pro has touched down on South African shores. Here’s what you can expect from this new model, including how much it costs…
The first-generation MG ZS, introduced in 2017, arrived in Mzansi at the start of this year; serving as the Chinese-owned British marque’s most affordable crossover/SUV offering locally. Available in two flavours, Comfort and Luxury, the ZS model range is currently priced form R289 900 and R309 900 for the former and latter trim grades, respectively. (As a refresher, the ZS line-up exclusively employs a 84 kW/150 N.m 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that is coupled with a four-speed automatic transmission.)
However, now, MG has introduced the second-generation ZS, which made its global debut in 2024, to Mzansi. It is worth noting, however, that this model doesn’t replace the first iteration in our market. Instead, the ZS Pro, as it is dubbed in South Africa, is positioned above the original ZS as a more premium offering in the firm’s local crossover/SUV portfolio, which is currently headlined by the HS midsize SUV.
How much does the MG ZS Pro cost in South Africa?
The local MG ZS Pro lineup comprises two derivatives, both employing the same engine option (we’ll get to the latter in a few). This includes the Comfort, which is priced from R397 600, and the Luxury, which will set you back R431 500. Pricing includes five-year/200 000 km vehicle and seven-year/unlimited km engine warranties, and a service plan spanning five years or 60 000 km.

The ZS Pro ditches the ZS’s atmospheric powertrain in favour of a turbocharged unit with the same number of cylinders and capacity. The 1.5-litre turbocharged four-pot employed by the ZS Pro produces 125 kW and 275 N.m of torque. In addition, instead of a four-speed self-shifter, the newcomer exclusively drives its front wheels via a CVT transmission. MG claims an average fuel consumption of 6.9 L/100 km.
As standard, Comfort trim features such items as 7.0-inch part-digital instrumentation, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, replete with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto screen mirroring, manual air conditioning, a reverse-view camera, rear park distance sensors, LED headlamps with daytime-running lights, LED taillamps, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Luxury grade upgrades to dual 12.3-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment, respectively, automatic climate control, heated front seats, panoramic sunroof, MG Pilot advanced driver assistance systems, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, six airbags (two more than Comfort spec), and 18-inch alloy wheels.
