Updated Toyota Corolla Cross: SA pricing, specs and more!

The first of the four Toyota models Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) confirmed for Mzansi at the  automaker’s 2025 State of the Motoring Industry (SOMI) event, the updated Corolla Cross has launched in South Africa. See pricing below…

TSAM’s best-selling passenger car, in 2024, the local arm of the Japanese automaker sold a whopping 22 000 units of the outgoing Corolla Cross. Aiming to build on the success of the pre-facelifted version, the updated Corolla Cross, TSAM says, “Elevates this model to new heights.”

The refreshed Corolla Cross sports several exterior updates, with the most notable coming in the shape of a redesigned front end, replete with new headlamp clusters, which, in XR and GR-Sport (GR-S) spec feature twin-beam LED units, crystal-like daytime-running lights and sequential turn signals. ’Round back, the Corolla Cross’ rear lamps feature new lighting signatures.

Updated Toyota Corolla Cross specifications

A quartet of trim grades are available for the updated Corolla Cross. These include Xi, Xs and the aforementioned, XR and GR-S levels of specification. Xi spec includes such items as 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, cruise control, keyless entry and rear park distance sensors. Xs models upgrade to a 10-inch infotainment set-up, dual-zone climate control and leather seats, and gains front park distance sensors on top of the Xi’s rear units.

XR and GR-S-spec variants gains a fully digital, 12.3-inch driver’s display, 360-degree surround-view camera system and Toyota’s Safety Sense package. The latter includes adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, among several other safety-focused items. Speaking of safety, these derivatives also gain two airbags (on top of the Xi and Xs’ five) for a total of seven.

Updated Toyota Cross engine options

As before, the Corolla Cross is available with the choice of two powertrain options, both sending drive to the front wheels via a CVT. The 1.8-litre, naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit churns out 103 kW and 172 N.m of torque. This engine, Toyota claims, sips 6.8 L/100 km. The hybrid derivative’s 1.8-litre petrol-electric set-up produces 90 kW and 142 N.m. The new-energy arrangement has an average claimed fuel consumption figure of just 4.3 L/100 km.

How much does the updated Toyota Corolla Cross cost in SA?

The updated Corolla Cross is priced from R414 800 for the entry-level, Xi variant to R561 700 for the flagship, GR-S model employing the firm’s HEV powertrain. As standard, all models include a six services/90 000 km service plan and a warranty spanning three years or 100 000 km. The HEV derivatives further gain an eight-year/195 000 km hybrid-battery warranty.
