The Toyota Starlet Cross is priced from R299 900 for the entry-level, Xs derivative sporting a five-speed manual cog-swapper, while the Xs variant equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission will set you back R322 300.
Driving its front wheels via the former, manual gearbox, the XR is priced at R339 300, with the automatic version specified in range-topping, XR trim grade is priced at R359 300. Included in the asking price of each are Toyota South Africa Motors’ (TSAM) four services/60 000 km service plan and a warranty spanning three years or 100 000 km.

As mentioned, the Starlet Cross is available in two trim levels, Xs and XR. As standard, the former grade features a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, which can be activated via USB or wirelessly. A four-speaker sound system is included in the package, as is a trio of USB ports. XR level of specification upgrades to a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone charging, a head-up display, and 360-degree surround-view camera system.
Six monochrome exterior colour options are available: Mystic Pearl White, Premium Liquid Silver, Shadow Grey, Galaxy Blue, Sonic Black Pearl and Fine Orange. The two-tone options include Luxe Red, Fine Orange, Liquid Sliver, each complemented by a Sonic Black Pearl roof.

The 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol unit is endowed with 77 kW and 138 N.m of torque, available from 6 000 r/min and 4 400 r/min, respectively. The five-speed manual derivative has a claimed average fuel consumption of 5.6 L/100 km, while the four-speed automatic variant has a claimed average fuel consumption of 5.8 L/100 km.
