Refreshed Toyota Corolla Cross GR-Sport launched in Mzansi

The refreshed Corolla Cross GR-Sport has launched in Mzansi, with Toyota South Africa Motors announcing pricing and specs for the updated derivative.

In 2025, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) introduced the refreshed Corolla Cross model line-up to Mzansi. However, while the Xi-, XS- and XR-spec Corolla Cross models received cosmetic enhancements, including a fresh front grille, the GR-Sport trim had yet to gain exterior updates. However, revealed at TSAM’s 2026 SOMI (State of the Motor Industry) event in February 2026, the updated Corolla Cross GR-Sport has now officially launched in South Africa.

So, what does the refreshed Corolla Cross GR-Sport package include? Well, as before, this model is distinguished from its stablemates via the fitment of several GR-Sport-specific elements, inside and out. Starting with the exterior revisions, the sportiest-looking Corolla Cross features a new, black mesh front grille with “GR” badging, “sporty” fore and aft skid plates, and newly designed 18-inch machined alloy wheels.

Stepping inside, the “GR” theme continues with “GR” branding, red contrast stitching and seat belts, and aluminium pedals. The petrol-only model also gains steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Red detailing is also present on the redesigned, piano black centre console.

GR-Sport grade features an array of convenience and safety equipment as standard. The former includes 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, which incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone screen mirroring, 12.3-inch digital instrumentation, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system. The tailgate is electronically operated. Seven airbags are included as standard, along with a variety of driver assistance systems such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The updated Corolla Cross GR-Sport is offered with the same powertrain options as the pre-facelifted model. This includes a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol, which produces 103 kW and 172 N.m of torque, and a 1.8-litre petrol-electric (HEV) powertrain that produces 90 kW and 142 N.m. Both models are equipped with a CVT transmission. Toyota claims average fuel consumption figures of 6.3 L/100 km and 4.3 L/100 km for the non-electrified and HEV models, respectively.

How much does the Toyota Corolla Cross GR-Sport cost in South Africa?

Locally, the updated Corolla Cross GR-Sport is priced from R527 000. The pricing includes a three-year/100 000 km warranty and a six services/90 000 km service plan. The HEV variant also includes an eight-year/195 000 km hybrid battery warranty.
