Having made its global debut in 2023, the new Mitsubishi Triton has finally made landfall on South African shores, with the sixth generation’s sights squarely set on local bakkie dominance. Here’s how much you can expect to pay for the box-fresh Triton. See pricing below…

Available in double- and single-cab body styles, the new Triton, Mitsubishi says, has been completely designed from the ground up. According to the Japanese firm, “All elements, including the interior and exterior design, as well as the chassis, ladder frame and engine, have been completely reimagined.”

The new Mitsubishi Triton is available with the choice of two engine options. The GL models are equipped with a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel powertrain producing 81 kW and 200 N.m, the latter of which is available from a mere 1 000 r/min to 3 750 r/min, while the 4N16 DI-DC unit, which has the same displacement and number of cylinders, employed by the remaining derivatives churns out 135 kW and 430 N.m of torque, the former and latter of which are available from 3 500 r/min and 2 250 r/min to 2 500 r/min, respectively.

A duo of transmission options are on offer: a six-speed manual gearbox and a self-shifter sporting the same number of cogs. Currently, the single-cab models are only available with the former. Of course, 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains are available.
