The Omoda C5 X Series models have landed in Mzansi, with the newcomers sporting several exterior, interior and, noteworthy, drivetrain updates. Here’s what you can expect…
The Omoda C5 X Series models are equipped with the Chinese automaker’s familiar 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 115 kW and 230 N.m of torque, the same outputs produced by the C5 Style and outgoing C5 Lux and C5 Elegance.

However, whereas these derivatives are equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the C5 X Series variants sends drive to their front wheels via a newly introduced six-speed dual-clutch (DCT) cog swapper. Omoda claims the DCT-equipped 1.5-litre four-pot sips, on average, 6.9 L/100 km.
Stepping inside, the C5 X Series features such items as touchscreen infotainment, replete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, and an upgraded wireless smartphone charging bay (50 W versus the previous 15 W item). In addition, Omoda claims a 64-litre increase in boot capacity (to 442 litres).
How much does the Omoda C5 X Series cost in South Africa?
The C5 X Series models are priced from R425 900 for the C5 Lux X and R465 900 C5 Elegance X models, respectively, making the former and latter R52 000 and R42 000 less expensive than the outgoing C5 Lux and C5 Elegance variants. It is worth noting that the existing C5 Street (R329 900), which employs an 83 kW/138 N.m naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-pot, and C5 Style (R364 900) derivatives remain available.
While the aforementioned, C5 Street and C5 Style ships with a two-year/25 000 km service plan, the C5 X Series models’ sticker prices include a five-year/70 000 km item. A five-year/150 000 km vehicle warranty and 10-year/1 million km engine warranty are included across the range. It is worth noting that the latter warranty is only available to the first owner.
