The Mercedes-Benz Vito Select, available in Mixto and Tourer guise, has launched in Mzansi. Here’s what you can expect from the latest addition to the German marque’s local van line-up.
The Mercedes-Benz Vito Select models employ the the Three-pointed Star brand’s 119 CDI engine, a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged oil-burner churning 140 kW and 440 N.m of torque, the latter of which available from 1 400 r/min to 2 400 r/min. (As a reminder, the standard Vito is available with the same turbodiesel four-pot, tuned to produce 100 kW/330 N.m and 120 kW/380 N.m in the 114 CDI and 116 CDI derivatives, respectively.)
Like the 114 CDI- and 116 CDI-equipped Vito Tourer variants, the Vito Select models’ 119 CDI unit is coupled with the firm’s familiar nine-speed (9G-Tronic) automatic transmission, which sends drive exclusively to the rear wheels. Mercedes-Benz claims an average fuel consumption figure of 7.2 L/100 km for the 119 CDI powertrain. Matching this figure allows for an average driving range of just over 970 km on a single, 70-litre fuel tank.
Available in (five-seater) Vito Mixto Select and (eight-seater) Vito Tourer Select guise, the latest addition to the local arm of the German marque’s Vito portfolio is generously equipped as standard. Indeed, features-wise, there are no cost options.
The Vito Select ships with such items as a 10.25-inch, touch-enabled MBUX infotainment system, which incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, and Bluetooth connectivity; wireless smartphone charging; a multifunction steering wheel with heating functionality; dual-zone climate control for the front occupants; electrically adjustable front pews; and park distance sensors that are supplemented by a camera array. The pews are trimmed in synthetic leather.

The Mercedes-Benz Vito Select model range is priced from R1 264 200 for the Vito Mixto Select and R1 360 000 for the Mixto Tourer Select, respectively. Pricing includes a two-year/unlimited km warranty. A service/maintenance plan is, however, optional.
