The Q7 namesake has been around for 18 years. Yup, for almost two decades this premium-midsize SUV has graced the roads of the world.

Remaining true to its forebears, the “comprehensively” updated Q7 remains true to its forebears, the Ingolstadt-based brand says. According to the German marque, the recently revealed model sports an “even more” minimalist form to coincide with its current design language.

According to Audi, “[It] has systematically reduced the decorative elements to give the vehicle an even clearer and more purist look.”

So, in order to distinguish the entry-level (if there is such a thing as a base-spec Q7) version from model fitted with the S line exterior package, Audi has handed the former’s front bumper, door trims, and diffuser contrasting hues. The firm says that this underlines the SUV’s “robust” off-road look.

In addition, the S line pack has been aligned more closely to the flagship SQ7 derivative. Specified in S line grade, the Q7 features “strongly accentuated” side air intakes in the front bumper, which, the automaker says, gives it an even sportier appearance. What’s more, every model is equipped with functional, “visually appealing” tailpipes.

The singleframe front grille sports an “individual” colour scheme. However, customers have the option to specify it in black. By ticking this option box, the latter hue will also be applied to the front and rear bumpers, and side windows’ trim.

The fresh-faced Q7 also features high-definition LED matrix headlamps. The daytime-running lights have been positioned on the upper horizontal edge of the latte units to “give the Q7 an even more powerful expression”. The rear lamps are of the OLED variety.

So, what engine options are available? Well, for starters, there’s the 45 TDI quattro, which churns out 170 kW and 500 Nm of torque. The there’s the 50 TDI, which produces 210 kW and 600 Nm, But moving on from the turbocharged diesel motors, the Q7 is also available in petrol format. The latter includes the 250 kW/500 Nm 55 TFSI and the SQ7, which sports a 4.0-litre V8 producing 373 kW/770 Nm.
